Cissus quadrangularis is a perennial plant of the grape family. The plant has got several common names including Devil’s Backbone, Adamant Creeper, Pirandai, Veld Grape, asthisamharaka, hadjod, pirandai, Edible stemmed vine, veldt grape, Asthisanhara, Chaudhari, Chodhari, and Choudhari. Veld Grape is a herbaceous, perennial succulent, deciduous shrubs or climbing plant that normally grow about 1.5 m (4.9 ft.) tall and has quadrangular-sectioned branches with inter nodes 8–10 cm (3–4 in) long and 1.2–1.5 cm (0.5–0.6 in) wide with tuberous root stock.
